Work continues

These are the experiments I've been busy with for my final exhibition. As you may know the final piece is based on lines and twists inspired by leaves and ribbons. My work has steadily progressed to experimenting with acetate and now fabric. I've been playing with varying methods of stiffening. Below are photographs of my plaster of Paris experiments.

These are OK but not really suitable for the effect I want to achieve. The plaster alters the appearance of the fabric and the stiffness has a very brittle quality. The piece requires some level of manipulation to create twists in various directions and unfortunately, as soon as I start to do this, the plaster starts to fracture, causing the material to become too soft.
Hmmm.
However, I found a stiffening product in my local haberdashery the other day and the experiments with that seem to do the trick nicely. I promise to post more pictures as I work through things. The end is definitely in sight!

Hi! Did you ever finish these? Would love to see the end result. Don't worry about the responses, busy is a word I know! Oh and the pincushions are functional. Be well! Karen
