At last

On Tuesday I finally finished college!

After 2 years of hard work and some tears, I had my final exhibition night. Of course it wasn't just me, I was surrounded by the rest of the people on my course. We were easy to spot - we were the ones grinning like complete idiots with shear relief.

I took some photos if you're interested ....

My piece of work comprised of 7 twisted strips of acetate that were suspended. Originally they were in front of the window where it was easier to photograph them. However as the day wore on and the sun moved round, my tutor suggested moving them so they were against the back wall. It makes them harder to spot in photos and I'm not convinced she was entirely right but I was past caring and just wanted the thing up and to be done.

So this is what they looked like when they were finally in place. And can you believe I forgot my camera so had to borrow Mummy G's!

I was so pleased with all the positive comments I heard from people during the show, especially after I'd had such a lot of hard work to get to that point - not least of all having to re-do the entire lot of sculptures in the medium I'd been wanting to do for ages when my tutor finally "suggested" that maybe I should give acetate a try. Two weeks before the show! However As you see I made it.
It was a wonderful evening and even friends from Liverpool came it just for the show. (They had meetings at work the following day). I was still floating the following day which made dealing with the Tube during rush hour an awful lot more bearable!

Karen - a club sounds fantastic. Can we make it somewhere really chilly. Preferably with big comfy sofas, a never ending supply of tea/cake/cheese scone, a magic fabric box that had whatever we needed in it, and a DAB radio?
